30 day old baby (10 pounds)

Jayden is now 1 month old. He is starting to recognize who his mommy and daddy are. His eyes is always wandering around the room, analyzing his surrounding. He knows how quickly we respond to his cries...sometimes way to quick...dropping whatever you are doing to attend to his needs. Good thing my sister can help feed him while I cook dinner yesterday. Last night, I was able to cook fish, noodles, and soup! It was actually quite delicious for a newbie Open-mouthed I am more health conscious than I am before. Constantly keeping Jayden on my mind when doing things, we had a cleaning person yesterday and I requested that he use environmental friendly products and less bleach so that it's safe for Jayden. Now, our world evolves around Jayden. Lucky him!

Flu season

It's been a while since I wrote a blog on Jayden's page. Taking care of Jayden is starting to rob my time from working, organizing, cleaning, and doing other things. That's the way it will be until he grows older Baring teeth Our live-in nanny has also left today. However, my lovely sister is here to help me out for a few weeks Red heart My husband is getting over a cold. BUT, I am coming down with a bad cold today. I have a box of tissue and a glass of hot ginger water with honey next to my laptop. With the rainy season and the temperature difference during the day and night, it is very easy to catch a cold. Poor Jayden! We need to be especially cautious when handling his bottles and not to sneeze at him Embarrassed. I learned a baby is best to be sick-free during the first 6-8 months at the minimum inorder for them to build their immune system to our germs. Hence, we have anti-bacterial soaps and wipes all over the home Wink

Jayden is taking in more milk now...almost 3 ounces...equivalent to approximately 90 ml. That means he can sleep a bit longer...about 2.5 hours to 3 hours at a timeOpen-mouthed If I could share what I learned so far that I think is valuable regarding getting your baby to sleep....it would be the importance of swaddling (or wrapping the baby up). If you notice in the recent photos, he is wrapped up snuggly like when he was still in my tummy. He can now sleep longer without being interrupted in his sleep for his diaper change. That means more sleep for mommy and daddy! Speaking of sleep...I am off to bed now Sleeping half-moon

He smiles!

My son is so cute! He gave a big satisfied smile after been fed breastmilk, followed with 3 more big smiles Angel What could he be smiling about? Is he happy because he is full? I wish I were able to know what he is smiling about. Jayden looks like an Indian boy now because his skin is a little red from sun exposure. We have to put him under indirect sunlight because he has jaundice (which is typical of babies with dark/yellow complexion). Otherwise, Jayden's skin was very pale/white and smooth with no wrinkles at all. My nanny said she has never seen a newborns skin so smooth. She said most newborns have wrinkles on their forehead, and Jayden didn't. I believe it may be due to the "pearl powder" that I took during my last 2 months of pregnancy Wink

My 11 day old baby boy

1 day old at the hospitalJayden was born on January 1st, 2008 @ 6:28pm.  Before I delivered my baby, my belly looked small compared to many. To many of my friends and the publics surprise, I delivered a 7 pounds and 11 ounce baby, stretching 18.5 inches long! We are thankful the baby and myself had no complications during delivery (although very painful indeed), and I'm recovering well. And yes, I had an epideral like many moms-to-be. Get the epidural if you can! It's too painful for anyone to endure! Thanks to the help of a live-in nanny/cook who will be here with us for a month, the caring of the babies stress load is being shared by her and my helpful husband. The nights are still very very stressful, waking up every 2 hour or less to feed or change his diaper. By the time I get his diaper changed, fed, and cradled to sleep, it is almost time for his next feeding. I have never been this stressful before! If you undertake a job of being pregnant, there is great responsibility and much time on your part to raise the children. It may be very stressful in the beginning. However, I am sure it will become better and better as he grows bigger. Just watching him grow each and every day makes all the stress in the evening worthwhile.
